چکیده

genotypes, it was slightly overrepresented in AFLP cluster IVb (CC 121) compared with major clusters I and III. Whether the prevalence of PVL in carriageand blood-culture isolates is higher and differs among distinct genetic clusters of S. aureus in countries with endemic CA-MRSA has to be investigated further. In conclusion, we have shown that the PVL-encoding phage has entered distinct staphylococcal lineages, although its prevalence differs per clonal group. PVL is associated with skin and soft tissue infections but not with bacteremia, which suggests that PVL is not likely to be involved in the pathogenesis of bacteremia. Infections caused by PVL-positive S. aureus strains have been documented since the 1930s. Expansion and increased incidence of such infections, however, are more recent, and further epidemiologic studies for tracking this phenomenon are still warranted.

Determination of Serologic and Molecular Prevalence of Hepatitis Type B, C, and G Infections in Patients with Hematological Malignancy in the South of Fars Province, Iran

Background & Objectives: Hepatitis type G virus (HGV) is a flavivirus with RNA genome which has high nucleotide and amino acid similarity with HCV. HGV can infect blood lymphocytes for long period and may have role in inducing or complicating the clinical outcomes in patients with hematological malignancies. Therefore in this study the prevalence of HGV, HCV, and HBV infections were evaluated i...

IMMUNOGENICITY OF HEPATITIS B VACCINE IN MULTI - TRANSFUSED THALASSEMIC PATIENTS WITH AND WITHOUT HEPATITIS C INFECTION: A COMP ARA TIVE STUDY WITH HEAL THY CONTROLS

Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection is highly prevalent in thalassemic patients, and this may decrease the serum antibody response to hepatitis B virus (HBV) vaccine. There is also some alteration of the immune system in multi-transfused thalassemic patients, as a consequence of iron overload. We investigated whether HCY infection may reduce the effectiveness of HBY vaccine in multi - transf...

Viral metagenomics reveal blooms of anelloviruses in the respiratory tract of lung transplant recipients.

Few studies have examined the lung virome in health and disease. Outcomes of lung transplantation are known to be influenced by several recognized respiratory viruses, but global understanding of the virome of the transplanted lung is incomplete. To define the DNA virome within the respiratory tract following lung transplantation we carried out metagenomic analysis of allograft bronchoalveolar ...

Increased Prevalence of Anellovirus in Pediatric Patients with Fever

The Anelloviridae family consists of non-enveloped, circular, single-stranded DNA viruses. Three genera of anellovirus are known to infect humans, named TTV, TTMDV, and TTMV. Although anelloviruses were initially thought to cause non-A-G viral hepatitis, continued research has shown no definitive associations between anellovirus and human disease to date. Using high-throughput sequencing, we in...
